Bluebonnet Data Announces New Executive Director;

Neal Hussein to Lead Political Data Nonprofit

Most recently at DigiDems, political data and cybersecurity expert

will lead efforts to mobilize volunteer data teams

Washington, DC (May 11, 2023) — Bluebonnet Data, a leading progressive nonprofit mobilizing political data volunteers, is excited to announce Neal Hussein as its new Executive Director. Hussein, who most recently served as National Data & Analytics Technical Specialist at DigiDems and is a Generation Data board member and cyber security instructor, will lead Bluebonnet Data’s efforts to build progressive political power through recruiting, training, and placing data-savvy volunteers with campaigns and causes.

A seasoned political data and cybersecurity expert with experience working for campaigns, unions, and national organizations, Hussein brings his expertise in political data, training, fundraising, cybersecurity, and organizing to Bluebonnet Data.

“Neal is an innovative, forward-thinking, and compassionate leader. He will be a wonderful champion and visionary for Bluebonnet Data and for the progressive community at large,” said outgoing Executive Director Becca Blais.

“I’m honored to serve as Bluebonnet Data’s next Executive Director,” said Hussein. “The work that Bluebonnet Data is doing to mobilize the next generation of data and tech talent is absolutely crucial for the progressive ecosystem, and Bluebonnet Data is doing it in a unique and effective way. We’re excited and ready to make an impact by deploying volunteer data teams across the country in 2023, 2024, and beyond.”

Prior to his roles with DigiDems and Generation Data, Hussein held a number of roles at coordinated Senate and congressional races, with Planned Parenthood, in the New Jersey marriage equality campaign, as an organizer with Obama’s 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns, and with the Communications Workers of America.
